Lyrics
|
Now I'm lowboy on the totem pole
hands over my eyes
spat on by pygmies half my size
too far from the delta
gut buckets and Jukes
Missing old buddies
Missionaries, greasers and spooks
I'll show em, if I ever get out of here alive
the tape has run too long
dust covers the books
green, red, yellow and blues
here- take another look
guitars lie silent
bells ring out loud
everywhere i see people
putting on death shrouds
I'll show em
if I ever get out of here alive
soloes
I'll show em
i'll show eim
repeat verse one

Description
|
Short Song Description: A hallucinatory lament about lacking what you need - status, cultural input, an audience, recognition, a place in the world and some hope for the future. All with a jaunty reggae influence beat and lively guitars. Humming in the charnel house.
|
Long Song Description: Recorded 1985 as Adventures in Paradise. This song was always the centre piiece of early incarnations of the Wrong Crowd's live set. we loved to play this song- it felt so good, so right, so now. And it still does to a certain extent.
Although the lyrics do seem a little strange...
|
Story Behind the Song: Chris Forehan- avuncular vocals, programming and sax
Captain Rick - bass, programming, distorted guitar and solo
Dean Lyster - clean guitar and backing vocals
