Description
Short Song Description:
A funky instrumental, thinly produced and with a dated sound. Hope you love it and then lovie it some more.
Long Song Description:
As I recall, recorded in my lounge room, using an Apple iBook, a mobilePRE firewire interface, a telecaster guitar, Logic and testing out a Behringer V-Ampiire combo amp. I might have used a Shure dynamic mike on some of the guitar parts, and recorded some of them through a DI.
This iinformation presented in the interest of improving recording standards - just so you know what to avoid.
Oh yeah, the harmonica was recorded using a Shure Green Bullet harmonica microphone. And the harmonica?
A Lee Oskar diatonic. Great hamonica IMHO- bright, responsive, sturdy, easy on one's lips (unlike Hohner Marine Bands, whcih always leave me bleeding). My one complaint is that the key signature tends to rub off. Very embarassing to take a solo and then discover you are in the wrong key- very restrictive on note choice and requiring too much mental effort. Definition of stress - doing this at the Montreux Jazz Festival.
Story Behind the Song:
Fellow Wrong Crowd producer, Chris Forehan finds this track very dated: "Man, I didn't realise how influenced by Miles Davis's "Doo Bop Sound" you were- kept expecting the vocal hip hop/rap to appear at any second - and that chorused guitar has to be heard to be believed".
He is right, of course.
But despite the production, which is over compressed and cold sounding, I still like this song. So why not spread the love, eh?
