Story Behind the Song: Murphy wrote this one a long time ago riding on the 64 Melbourne to Brighton tram on hot Monday evening and scribbled the head arrangement on the back of tram ticket that he was using as a bookmark for the book he was reading at the time- Breakfast of Champions by Kurt Vonnegut.
Just as the character in that book was caught in unwilling time and space travel so Murphy finds himself forever drawn between the original sounds and approach of the Wrong Crowd and the solid big band background and the classical education that he obtained at Trinity College London.
